Tulare County, with a population of nearly 434,000, is located in the heart of Central California at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range known as the "Sequoia Valley". Tulare County grew at a rate of about 18 percent from 2000-2008 and is expected to continue growing at double-digit and nearly double-digit rates over the next five years. The median age is 29.6 years with an estimated 58 percent of the population in the prime working age group (18 to 65 years of age).

Strategically located, Tulare County offers excellent transportation access to all of California and the west coast. This along with seismic stability makes Tulare County a desirable distribution point for many major corporations. Companies such as Best Buy Co., Wal-Mart, JoAnn Stores and VF Outdoor, Inc. have chosen Tulare County to locate their west coast distribution centers.

Tulare County is also recognized as the largest agricultural-producing county in the world and ranks number one in the state, as well as the nation, for total milk production. Land O'Lakes, Saputo Cheese, Kraft USA, Mozzarella Fresca and California Dairies are just a few of our milk and cheese producers.

Tulare County agribusiness is dynamic and reflects the changing demands of consumer and export markets. The county’s agribusiness alone produces over $4 billion dollars in value for all commodities, an increase of 32 percent since 2000. Tulare County grows over two hundred commercial crops and ranks as one of the most-productive agricultural counties in the United States.

The Tulare County Economic Development Corporation has a 26-year history and experience in helping businesses find the right location. The EDC is an Accredited Economic Development Organization designated by the International Economic Development Council.
